APRIL

We have learned our last two reading strategies for decoding words in text. One of them is "skippy the frog." Skippy tells us that if we don't know a word and our other strategies are not helping us figure out what the word is, we will skip it and read the rest of the sentence. Then we will "hop" back to try to figure out what word would make the most sense. The other strategy we learned was "Tryin' Lion." Tryin' Lion suggests that you reread the sentence and try a word that makes sense and you KEEP TRYING!

Sight words this month:

  • now
  • out
  • there
  • our
  • what
  • all
  • on
  • wh
  • ch
  • sh

COLOR RUN

Color Run update...

If students lost their packet, there are plenty in the office.

http://schoolathon.org/  (over on the right it says register)
Type in our school code: 110576. It should walk you through this from there.

Here is a line to the informational brochure if you still have questions or are curious yourself.

When a student registers online that is how they are getting those rings. If they fund-raise more than $30 that's how the get those cute shoe key chains.

If you have any more questions let me know and I can forward you to someone who would know more information about the color run!
